The Bureau of Customs (BOC) - Port of Cebu received 185 abandoned balikbayan boxes bound for Cebu, Bohol, Negros, and Siquijor on December 27, 2022.

The balikbayan boxes are part of the thousands of packages to be delivered free of charge to the families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) victimized by unscrupulous consolidators abroad, as ordered by Commissioner Yogi Filemon L. Ruiz.

In line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Ruiz, the Port of Cebu commits to facilitate the immediate release of balikbayan boxes to safeguard the interest and promote the welfare of OFWs.
